Nairobi - Kenya's rugby sevens coach Paul Treu has called up KCB play-makes Ken Moseti and Nakuru RFC lock Martin Owila ahead of the new HSBC World Sevens Series season.
"Moseti has been instrumental for KCB, winning two tournaments. He is good distributor and an excellent defender and we will want to put him in the Sevens environment to see how he matches up with the others," said Treu.
The coach added of Owila: "We observed him during the 15s Rugby World Cup qualifiers in Madagascar and we have continued to follow his progress at Nakuru RFC and he fits into the profile of the Sevens players."
These two players aren't set to be the only new additions, with Treu confirming that he was currently scouting for talent.
"We are traveling down to the coast to see more players. We were in Kisumu a fortnight ago and we want to add to our player base in the national team and I expect competition for places to be quite stiff in the next six weeks," he added.
Treu also hopes plans to organise a sevens tournament featuring Kenya 'A' will come to fruition.
"It's very difficult to bring a player from the national Sevens circuit to an IRB Sevens event so going forward we would like to see a Kenya a side play in some overseas rugby Sevens event to get the exposure before we pick them for the Kenya Sevens team," he said.
