Top of the table clash in Kenya Cup rugby weekend

07 February 2014, 12:11

Nairobi - Top Fry Nakuru host KCB in the Kenya Cup's top bill clash at the Nakuru Athletic Club on Saturday 8 February 2014. These two sides sit pretty atop the league table, Nakuru boasting a 100% record, having won 10 matches on the trot, collecting bonuses in 9 of these encounters for 49 points. KCB lie second on the log with nine wins and one defeat, accumulating 43 points in the process.

This match is definitely going to be as feisty as a Nakuru-KCB fixture can be. As mentioned earlier, these two sides are in Kenya Cup pole position and are no doubt assured of playoff qualification.

There will be duels upfront, Nakuru's internationally capped front rows Isaiah Nyariki and Sammy Warui up against their Kenya counterparts Curtis Lilako and Moses Amusala on the KCB side. Edwins Makori and Philip Kwame will be up against Oliver Mang'eni and Brian Sagara in the locks while another potential looms in the backrow where the likes of Mike Okombe and Lawi Buyachi renew their acquaintance against Max Adaka, the evergreen Anthony Ogot and co.

The two sides are equally matched in the backs as well and fans at the Nakuru Athletic Club are sure to get value for money. This will very likely be a battle of nerves, the side that keeps it head emerging victorious on the day.

There will be six other Kenya Cup fixtures on the day, Strathmore hosting Mwamba at The Cage in Madaraka, Mean Machine welcome Impala to the UoN grounds, Kisumu play Homeboyz at the Kisumu Poly grounds, Blak Blad host Nondies at the Kenyatta University while Lunch Bar Quins are away to Eldoret at the Eldoret Sports Club.

Eldoret vs Quins 4pm Eldoret Sports Club
