Top Fry Nakuru still top of Kenya Cup rugby log

21 January 2014, 16:41

Nairobi - Top Fry Nakuru stay top of Kenya Cup league standings after winning their ninth match of the season, a 19-8 win over Total Nondies, an interesting result in that the champions failed to collect a bonus for the first time this season.

They have gathered 44 points and at this point in time no one can dispute the fact that they will definitely be part of the semi final playoff quartet when the round robin stage draws to a close.

KCB now lie in second place after registering a 24-22 bonus point win over Mwamba RFC. The bankers boast an 8-1 record and with 38 points, are a sure bet for the league semi final playoffs.

Strathmore Leos  swapped places with KCB as they failed to garner a bonus point in their 20-10 weekend victory over Quins. They lie third with 37 points despite boasting an identical win-loss record with the bankers after a similar number of outings.

Lunch Bar Quins have 32 points from six wins and two losses which places them fourth on the log. They have a game in hand over the top three. Homeboyz RFC blitzed Eldoret 84-6 to claw their way into fifth place with 26 points and with an outside chance of making the playoffs with four rounds still to play. They are the biggest climbers, having risen two places from seventh.

Also climbing up the log is Western Bulls who are now placed seventh with 23 points after demolishing Kisumu 51-3. They are just one point behind sixth placed Nondies (25 points).

Mwamba, after a promising start to this season's campaign have dropped to the lower half of the table, lying eighth on 22 points and will have to dream of the playoffs next season. Blak Blad (15 points), Impala (13 points), Mombasa (13 points), Mean Machine (12 points), Eldoret RFC (3 points) and Kisumu RFC ( -6 points) round off the league standings.
