Ten changes for Kenya "A" ahead of Elgon Cup decider

19 June 2015, 12:02

Nairobi - Defending champions Kenya "A" have wrung the changes ahead of their Elgon Cup return fixture away to Uganda on Saturday.

Head Coach Mitch Ocholla has made a total of ten changes, nine of these to the fifteen that started last weekend’s 20-17 home result over the Rugby Cranes, making wholesome changes in the front row and half back combinations.

Kabras Sugar's colossal prop Hillary Mwanjilwa, his club mate Duncan Mwangi and KCB hooker Peter Kaaria start ahead of McLanhan Sikuku, Francis Akatu and George Asin who have been relegated to the bench.

Davis Makori gets the nod over Michael Gitau at lock where he will partner Philip Owuor.

Two try hero Charles Omondi starts from the bench, Nakuru’s Dalmus Chituyi slotting in at eighth man.

Felix Wanjala has been drafted into the starting line up after missing out on last weekend's action, slotting in at scrum half in place of Eden Agero who has been dropped from the squad altogether while Pan Africa Strathmore Leos' Kenny Andola starts at fly half, part of a tactical switch that sees Ken Moseti moved to inside center with Brian Omondi dropping to the bench.

Duncan Abuyeka and Ian Minjire replace Essau Otieno and Alvin Otieno at fullback and wing respectively while Sammy Motari replaces William Mawira on the bench.

Speaking in Nairobi on Thursday morning, Team Manager Newton Ong'alo said, " We're giving every player an opportunity to have a feel of the game."

"There were also aspects of the game that we struggled with and this is what informed the technical bench’s decision in making these changes."
