Windhoek, Namibia - After finishing fourth in the just-concluded Youth Olympics in Nanjing China, the junior rugby team will be under the spotlight in the upcoming Confederation of African Rugby’s Division 1A U-19 Championships.
The event will be held on Tuesday until Saturday next week in Windhoek, Namibia.
According to the local rugby governing body, there will be a strong Kenyan presence in the tournament scheduled for the Southern African country.
"There will be a strong Kenyan presence at these championships, with the country not only being represented on the pitch by the national U-19 side but also on the administrative side by several officials serving in various capacities," said a Kenya Rugby Union statement.
KRU said in the statement that former Chairman, Richard Omwela, will be at the championships as a Judicial Officer while former Kenyan international fullbacks Erick Situma and James Absaloms will be in Namibia as Tournament Director and Citing Commissioner respectively.
Victor Oduor will also be in Windhoek as a match official.
The tournament is the highest level of U-19 national team competition on the African continent, with the winner earning a ticket to play in the 2015 Junior World Rugby Trophy (JWRT) organized by the International Rugby Board.
