Sevens teams named

Nairobi - The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) has officially confirmed the ten teams that will participate in the upcoming Safaricom Sevens Africa’s premier rugby competition.
Local and international sides will battle it out at the tournament that will be held at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani from Friday to Sunday.
The teams include Belgium, Samurai, Rwanda, Grenoble, England Royals, Australian Renegades, Zambia, South Africa’s Western Province, and the New Zealand side Poison alongside the host’s Kenya Mashujaa and the Kenya Sevens Academy.

Michael Kwambo, KRU executive said the competition was set to prepare the national team for the oncoming International Rugby Board series that is set to kick off in two weeks time, among other tournaments.
“This will be the first assignment for the Kenya Sevens Academy as they prepare for the 2014 Youth Olympics in China,” he said.
The highly anticipated contest has been categorized into three including competition from the national teams, schools tertiary institutions and lastly the veterans category.
The KRU confirmed that all the arrangement had been concluded and the selections of the teams would be finalized in due course.
