Nairobi - David Rudisha is looking forward to the New York Diamond League this Saturday after recovering from a thigh injury.
Rudisha is hoping to be fully fit before the World Championship in Beijing this August.
He has been in Germany for treatment on
his thigh, which caused him to miss out on the Birmingham Grand Prix,
but is confident that he can mount a challenge for his upcoming 800m
race in New York.
"I am leaving today for New York and I expect a good run," he told standardmedia.co.ke.
"I have one more race in Lausanne in
July and then I will run the national trials before heading to Beijing.
It has been unfortunate for me to get the small injury and I am really
feeling good now. I am back to my spikes and that makes me happy. I am
sure I will be smiling soon."
The Kenyan has insisted that he is not
worried about his time and that since this is his first big race, he
would really like to make a big impact.
"I will not talk about time. It is not
important because it looks as if this is my first really important race
in 800m after starting the season early down in Melbourne and Sydney,"
said the determined 26-year-old.
"I know they have assembled a big team
and it will be good to run alongside them and see how I do. But I am in
great shape now and anything is possible. I have nothing more to prove
and all I need is to run and win in New York."
fter the 800m world record holder
competes in New York, he will be headed back home for training before
jetting off to Switzerland for the Lausanne Diamond League.
