Rain stops Maseno's rugby onslaught

27 August 2014, 15:16

Nairobi - Heavy rain interrupted Maseno School and St Peter's Mumias' rugby matches on Tuesday with both teams calling it a day shortly after half-time break during this year's Brookside East Africa Secondary school games at the Dar es Salam University.

Maseno, who have now qualified for the semi-finals after registering two wins, were already up 62-0 when play was halted five minutes after the break in their match against Morogoro Secondary from.

Albert Obura, Brian Juma, Anthony Jeremy and Fanuel Aduda were star players on the day.

Maseno had beaten St Famillie from Rwanda 27-0 in the opening match at the same venue on Monday.

"We are taking precautions because we know the tournament proper starts tomorrow against St Mumias," coach Gilbert Onyango told nation.ke.

"It's been a good start even though we had weak opponents. We are happy with the progress so far," Maseno coach Gilbert Onyango said after yesterday’s encounter. Kenyan champions St Peter’s also needed 41 minutes to see off Morogoro 63-0.
