Quins up the ante in Kenya Cup rugby

07 January 2014, 14:00

Nairobi - Saturday's 34-27 away win to Western Bulls at the Kakamega High School saw Lunch Bar Quins surge to second on the Kenya Cup log, just three points behind leaders and defending champions Top Fry Nakuru.

The former champions scored a bonus point victory to take their points tally to 32, just three adrift of the leaders.

Western Bulls managed two points despite the loss, scoring four tries and losing by seven or less points, and moved up one position to ninth, level on 13 points with Mombasa Sports Club but boasting a superior try count.

Homeboyz RFC won the only other Kenya Cup fixture on Saturday, failing to collect a bonus point in their 29-18 result over Impala but consolidating their seventh place on the log, placing them level on 21 points with sixth placed Mwamba, three adrift of fifth placed Nondies and seven behind KCB who occupy  the final playoff slot with six rounds of the league phase left to play.

Former champions Impala remained twelfth on the log , just one point and one position above the relegation zone. (Courtesy KRFU)
