Nairobi - The eagerly awaited KCB Kiambu Rally, which is set for end of April, will be contested on private roads in Kiambu County, a senior official has announced.
Rally Sports Club chairman, who is also the event director, Phineas Kimani, said the move was crafted that way in order to avoid disturbances from public road users.
He said the move would also ensure participating drivers’ safety and security as they contested for the top honours.
Kimani said the KCB Kiambu Rally would be contested on April 26-27.
He described the rally as "restoration" of the prestigious World Rally Championship Safari.
This year's Rally is sponsored by KCB, iWay Africa, ICEA Lion, Migaa and ALS.
Gitatha Farm, Mboi Kamiti, Cianda Estate, Tatu Estate and Marriot pledged to offer their support to the race to ensure safety and security.
