Prisons, KCB crowned champions

Nairobi - Kenya Prisons and Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) respectively won the men's
and women's titles at the recently concluded Nairobi County Chairman's
The two-day tournament at the University of Nairobi Grounds was completed on Sunday.
In the men’s final, Prisons edged out General Service Unit (GSU) in a eagerly contested final, eventually winning 3-2.
The match was a repeat of the 2013 Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) final, which was won by GSU.

“I am excited by this win against a seasoned opponent, this result
gives us hope and belief to put up a good fight with the hope of
reclaiming the league title this season," Prisons coach Gideon Chenje
told Standard Media after the tie.
The women’s final saw KCB 'A' defeat KCB 'B' 3-0 to be crowned overall champions.
The winners in each category were awarded with a Sh 20,000 prize, while the runners-up each received Sh 10,000.

"Our plan is to organise more of these competitions, so as to give
out youth a platform to expose their talents," KVF's Nairobi Branch
chairman Joseph Nderitu said.
KVF league resumes in Eldama Ravine this weekend.
