Positive response to cross country championships

13 February 2014, 10:35

Nairobi - The upcoming IAAF Permit/AK National Cross Country Championships have drawn a favourable response from athletes.

Among the stars that have confirmed their participation on Saturday include Moses Mukono, Pauline Wanjiru Muchiri, Silas Kimutai, Amos Mitei, James Maina, Elphas Lang’at, Geoffrey Korir and Bernard Kimani Kitavi.

Other favourites are Elvis Cheboi, Andrew Loret, Edwin Kibet, Emmanuel Bett and Vedic Kipkoech, who according to report, indicate they have fully prepared for the marathon set for the weekend.

A strong female lineup consisting of the likes of Joyce Chemutai, Jane Muragu, Jane Wanja, Dorcas Obare and Virginia Nyambura is also expected to take to the field.

Nonetheless, all eyes will be on continental junior 5000m champion, Mukono, who promised victory at the highly-anticipated event.

A total of US$15,200 is up for grabs during the championships scheduled for Nairobi's Uhuru Gardens.
