05 September 2014, 21:41

Nairobi - The national cricket team will tour to South Africa for the Global Softech series that will feature six South African domestic franchises and six African countries.

Matches will be played at SuperSport park in Centurion with the goal of the tournament being to use Africa as a platform to expose new audiences to the game of cricket.

The main objective is to spread the sport across the continent.

Kenya, Namibia, Uganda, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and hosts South Africa, will take part in the African Sixes challenge; while the Cape Cobras, Chevrolet Knights, Chevrolet Warriors, Unlimited Titans, Sunfoil Dolphins and the Lions, will take part in the franchise sixes challenge.

There will be six players in each side with each team bowling five overs.

After the Softech sixes, Kenya will play in the Africa cricket Association Cup between the 8th-13th of September.

Kenya's first match in the ACA cup will be against Uganda, followed by games against South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Tanzania.
