Lamu - The county will not compete in the Airtel Mombasa Region
secondary schools Term Two B games which gets underway on Thursday.

because of the insecurity situation in the county that has left many schools
This comes as various teams started arriving at the Kwale
High School On Tuesday.
Lamu have been formidable opponents in football,
volleyball and athletics and their absence will be greatly felt.
Recent terror attacks in the county have left over 80 people
dead and this has crippled learning in the county.
Mombasa region Secondary Schools Sports Association chairman
Rodgers Siasa Mwafungo said the absence of teams from Lamu will be a big blow
to the championships since the teams have always provided the much needed
competition at the games.
“It is indeed sad that Lamu County has had to withdraw from
the games because of insecurity in the area. It is also sad that many schools
to remain closed,” Mwafungo said.
“We urge the government to act swiftly and provide security
to restore confidence in the parents to return their children to school,” he
Lamu County’s absence now means that Pool B will now have
only three teams in boys football, including Tononoka of Mombasa, Mwangea from
