Kiprop keen to take on Aman match-up

15 May 2015, 13:24

Nairobi - Kenya's Asbel Kiprop is relishing the prospect of facing Ethiopia's Mohammed Aman in the 800m race at the IAAF Diamond League event in Doha on Friday.

Kiprop, who is the current world champion in the 1,500m, expects a tough battle with Aman who is the 800m metre world champion.

“I expect a tough competition and that is why I am happy to be here," Kiprop told the Qatar Tribune.

I am not an 800m runner, but I am glad to be part of the competition."

Kiprop has fond memories of Doha. He was triumphant in the 1,500m in 2013 and 2914 and also won the 800m race there in 2011.

Aman is just as keen to get his season off to a good start.

“My main season’s goal is to win the Diamond race for the third time," he said.

"That is in line with my ambition in Doha and to remain the world champion in Beijing this summer.”
