Kiprop clinches Migori race

Migori - Long distance runner, Josphat Kiprop, beat a cluster of marathon athletes to romp to victory in a tightly contested Awendo 10-km race in Migori over the weekend.
Kiprop romped to victory in 29:04:91 while second and third positioned Isaac Kipkoech and Henry Chirchir crossed the line in 29:17:81 and 29:31:43 respectively.
Nancy Nzisa stood hands and shoulders above the rest to win the girls' 3000m steeplechase ahead of close rivals Dorcas Nzambi and Celestine Chepkorirr, who crossed the line in different times of 10:17.8, 10:21.4 and 10:36.7 respectively.
In the men's 3000m steeplechase, Abraham Kirui emerged victorious in a time of 8:37.6 ahead of second and third placed Kipkurui Bett and Wdwin Kibet in 8:42.7 and 8:47.2.
In that race, hard running DeClerk Omari came fourth in a commendable time of 29:35:20.
In the boys' 800m heat, Patrick Rono cruised to victory in 1:46.3 while Nathan Kipkoech and Anthony Kiptoo came second and third in 1:46.7 and 1:46.8 respectively.
Elsewhere across the capital, Nairobi, Sheila Chepgetich won the 1 500m in 4:16.6 while Winfred Mbithe and Eva Cherono came second and third in4:20.4 and 4:21.8 at the Kenya trials for the East Africa Junior championships in Ethiopia later this month.
