Nairobi - World Professional Boxing Federation (WPBF) Youth Super featherweight
champion Francis Kimani is set to complete preparation for his title
defence in England.
Kimani will face Tanzanian champion Francis Miyeyusho in Nairobi on
May 28, and has already begun training for the bout in his home gym at
the Gym Plaza Complex in Allsops, Nairobi.
However, in March he will travel to the UK to spend time as a
sparring partner to Michael, Ryan and Liam Walsh, three brothers who are
all up-and-coming fighters.
"It has been hard getting an opponent but I am happy that my manager
Brian Mutiga has gone out of his way to secure one for me,” he told
“I am training hard for the challenge at the same time keeping my focus on the sparring role I have landed in the UK.
"I do weights and aerobics at in the morning before proceeding for
sparring, pad works and punching bag in the afternoon at Pal Pal Gym."
Kimani’s time in the UK should be excellent preparation for his title defence as all three brothers are champions.
Michael Walsh is the Commonwealth and World Master super bantamweight
champion, while Ryan is the reigning Commonwealth featherweight
Liam Walsh is the Commonwealth and European super featherweight
champion, and will defend the titles on February 28 and in April
