Nairobi - The Kenya 'A' team will go up against the Uganda Rugby Cranes in Nairobi
on the 13th of June. The clash will be played over two legs with the
returning leg being played in Kampala the following week.
Former Kenyan sevens international, Cyprian Kuto, believes that The Kenyan 'A' team have every chance of retaining their title.
"We are confident of retaining the title
with this squad which is essentially a transitioning squad as we have a
number of upcoming players coming through from Chipu (Kenya U-19s) as
well as players coming through from the Kenya Cup league and they are
hungry for success and are keen to excel at this stage." Kuto told
The former Kenyan international however,
did not compete in last year's Elgon Cup as they are only seven players
from a 30 man squad that featured in their title winning team last
year. Those players being Edwins Makori, Philip Kwame, Rocky Aguko, Eden
Agero, Ken Moseti, Elkins Musonye and Felix Wanjala.
The result last year was 48-21 on
aggregate, with the Kenyans actually losing their opening leg 14-21
before winning convincingly 34-0 in the closing leg.
With 23 new faces included in their
squad since their last Elgon Cup you can expect this contest to be very
different from last year.
