Nairobi - A 5-1 defeat to South Africa Thursday, meant that the Kenya national men's hockey team missed out on a place in the 2014 World Cup.
It was a classy display from the South Africans who tore apart Kenya's defence with ease on several occasions and threatened to hit doubel figures only to be denied by goalkeeper Mathew Kayieko who made a number of brilliant saves.
South African captain Austin Smith scored for of the five goals on the day, with Hykes Julian hitting the fifth.
They will be joined in the final by Egypt who beat Ghana 3-4 courtesy of a late goal to book their place in the final.
So the final matches that will decide who makes it to the World Cup proper will see South Africa take on Egypt in the men's category and Ghana and South Africa facing off in the women's section
