Nairobi - Kwanthanze Secondary School will meet Rwanda's GS Indagaburezi in the final of the girls' volleyball competition of the Brookside East Africa secondary school games in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on Sunday.
Kwanthanze qualified for the final after beating Malava Girls 3-0 (25-17, 25-23 and 25-18) in the first semis and have not lost a set in the entire tournament.
However, Indagaburezi have already beaten one Kenyan side at the tournament after their 3-0 semi-final win against Kosirai girls.
Ann Lowen, Kwanthanze’s coach, told the Daily Nation that they would not underestimate their opponents.
“The only present I can give to the school is to retain this trophy,” she said.
“We will take Indagaburezi who gave us a problem in last year’s final very seriously.”
Kenyan schools have already claimed three other titles at the East Africa secondary school games.
Shimba Hills Girls’ basketball, Sinyolo Girls’ hockey and Friends School Kamusinga boys’ hockey teams retained the titles they won at last year’s tournament.
The Upper Hill boys’ basketball team could not do the same and lost 57-47 to Tanzania’s Makongo in semi-finals. For the latest on national news, politics, sport, entertainment and more follow us on Twitter and like our Facebook page!
