Kenya volleyball team targets world championships

26 September 2013, 15:25

Nairobi - Kenya women’s volleyball team is confident of a change of fortunes at the upcoming World Championships in Zurich, Switzerland.

The side will represent the continent at the global event starting October 9 in the European country after emerging victorious at the recent African Cup of Nations.

“We expect good results from our side this year even though we have participated in this competition three times with no success,” said the team’s coach David Lung’ ao after a training session.

The team has camped at the Kasarani Stadium ahead of the event.

The coach cited lack of exposure as the main reason why the team has previously failed to perform well at the World Championships.

Lung’ aho nonetheless is confident his team will reach at least the quarterfinals.

He pointed out that the team needs to play against other African teams in order gain experience and be able to perform well in the event.
