Kenya sevens head for South African training camp

03 January 2014, 11:00

Nairobi - The national sevens team left the country for South Africa on Friday morning where they will attend a training camp before playing in the George Sevens Premier League on 11/12 January as they prepare for the fourth round of the 2013/2014 HSBC Sevens World Series, the USA Sevens taking place in the resort city of Las Vegas from 24-26 January.

Head Coach Paul Treu, who is already in South Africa, has named an 18 player squad that includes Oscar Ouma, Dennis Ombachi who has returned to full fitness following knee surgery that saw him miss last year's Rugby World Cup Sevens in Moscow as well as former skipper Humphrey Kayange.

Speaking about player-coach Kayange's inclusion, Treu said, "For now he will be a player and incorporated into the leader group. He needs to focus on his game and adapt to the new coaching style and philosophy as quickly as possible."
