Kenya on the verge of Games qualification

Nairobi - Kenya are one win away from qualifying for the final of the 2015 All
Africa Games after a hard-fought 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-9) win over
Ethiopia in Kampala on Wednesday.
The Ethiopians proved to be tough opponents, as they gave the highly
rated Kenyan team a run for their money in the volleyball showdown.
They led 16-14 by the second technical timeout as the Kenya fumbled
on attack, with Janet Wanja struggling to gel with Mercy Moim and Ruth
But the excitement took its toll on Ethiopia as they got themselves into making unforced errors at the net to give away points.
Kenya held their nerve as Wanja did away with the fancy sets and went back to basics and her attackers responded well.
It was 22-19 when Evelyn Makuto and Jepngetich joined forces on the
net to take the score to 23-19 and later Moim made a block to open up a
Ethiopia’s Teklehaimont Yeshidagne netted and Janet Wanja served for the set point for Kenya to take the set 25-19.
They were punished in the second set as unforced errors handed Kenya
points on a silver platter and allowed them to claim a 25-17 win.
The Kenyans then breezed through the third set 25-9, to pull off a comprehensive victory in the game.
Kenya needs to win one of their remaining two matches against Burundi and Uganda to secure a place at the All Africa Games.
