Kenya land huge win, SA held in Afro Hockey tourney

19 November 2013, 14:00

Nairobi - The Kenyan national women's hockey team bounced back from defeat on the first day of the African Hockey Championships with a 13-1 defeat of Tanzania, Tuesday morning at the City Park Stadium in Nairobi.

After losing their first match of the tourney 3-1 to South Africa, Kenya knew they had to score goals aplenty to ensure their scoring average was good and they did just that with an effective display infront of goal.

Pauline Naise 3, Pauline Amutebi 3, Jackie Mwangi 2, Betsy Omala, Barbra Simiyu, Tina Agunda, Audrey Amoor 2, scored the goals for Kenya with Selemani Mohammed Khadija getting the consolation for the Tanzanians.

In the second match of the day, Ghana came from behind to hold South Africa's women 1-1 at the same venue.

The other matches of the day are as follows (EGY v RSA M), (KEN v GHA M).
