Nairobi - Kenya can qualify for the 2015 IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy if they triumph against Namibia in the Confederation of Africa Rugby (CAR) Under 18 Division 1A Championship final in Windhoek on Sunday.
Namibia, the hosts and defending champions, qualified for the tournament final by crushing Tunisia 78-3 in the semis.
Kenya were much less dominant in their semi-final encounter against Zimbabawe and advanced with a 27-20 win.
Kenya raced to a 17- lead after Alex Olaba and Felix Ojow scored unconverted tries and Billy Isabwa converted his own try.
Shepherd Mhembere struck back for Zimbabwe, but his try went unconverted and John Paul Muriuki widened the deficit again with another unconverted try to see Kenya lead 22-5 at half time.
Mhembere scored his second try to take scores to 22-10 after the conversion was missed, but Kenya refused to let Zimbabwe back into the contest and Isabwa touched down to restore the 17-point lead.
However, Zimbabwe would have the last say in the match with Tawanda Nkosi scoring a third try and Mhembere completing his hatrick.
Zimbabwe will face Tunisia in the third and fourth place play off before Kenya’s final.
