Nairobi - Kenya karate coach Ben Owiti says his karateka are completely fearless ahead of the African Championships in Dakar Senegal.
“We have trained intensively for the past four weeks and we are ready for action,” he said.
“The karateka have promised to deliver and we are relishing the challenge ahead of us. The Kenya team is ready to battle. We fear no nation. We are going all out to win the medals.”
The Championships will feature the best karateka on the continent.
Owiti added that Egypt, Algeria and Nigeria will be nations to watch out
The winners of the event will qualify for the World Championships in Bremen, Germany in November.
“This is a big chance and platform for our karateka. Victory means we
go on to compete against the best in the world in November,” Owiti
“They are in good spirits and we can’t wait for action to start. I want to urge Kenyans to rally behind the team.”
The athletes will compete in both kumite (points sparring) and kata (forms) events.
