Kenya Cricket team kicks off World Cup qualification

15 November 2013, 12:21

Nairobi - The Kenya National Cricket team kicks off its ICC 20-20 World Cup qualification campaign Friday, when they face off with Papua New Guinea in Dubai.

Having done well in their last two friendly matches, seeing off Namibia and Hong Kong, the Kenyan boys will be looking to start on a high note in the Group B match at the ICC Academy Ground two.

Papua New Guinea might be the minnows in the clash but they have recently beaten favourites Ireland in a friendly so will not be a pushover.

" It will be a difficult tournament but we have done well in recent weeks and will hope that the performances are just as good in Dubai, the returning Steve Tikolo said before departure for Dubai.

16 teams will take place in the qualifiers with six set to qualify for the World Cup which will be held in Bangladesh in 2014.
