Nairobi - Former national captain Jimmy Kamande has been called up to the Kenya
squad that will participate in the World Cricket League Division Two
tournament in Namibia.
The 36-year-old Kamande replaces the injured Dhiren Gondaria, who
suffered a broken arm last month while on tour in India with the Kanbis
"Cricket Kenya (CK) would like to confirm that the selection
committee alongside the technical staff have approved Jimmy Kamande as a
replacement player for Dhiren Gondaria in the national team for the
World Cricket League tournament," a statement from the CK noted.
"Gondaria has been replaced due to an injury he sustained while in
India with his club in December, after which recent medical tests were
done and reports were received.
"The replacement of a player requires the approval of the Event
Technical Committee before the replacement player can be officially
added to the squad and we are happy to say this has been done."
Whilst Kamande will add experience to Steve Tikolo's side, the loss
of Gondoria is a major one since the 20-year-old has been near the top
of the domestic run-scoring charts throughout the season.
