Jelagat wins first place in Rotterdam

Rotterdam - Jemima Jelagat Sumgong kept the Kenyan flag flying high by winning the Rotterdam Marathon in a time of 2:23:27.
Jelagat outrun her nearest rival, Abebech Afework of Ethiopia, who finished in a time of 2:23:59, the Standard reports. Hilda Kibet, a former Kenyan who now runs for the Netherlands, finished in third place in a time of 2:26:42.
Tilahun Regassa from Ethiopia won the men’s event in 2:05:38 with another Ethiopian, Getu Feleke in second place (2:06:45). Sammy Kitwara represented the Kenyan men by securing the third place in a time of 2:07:22.
Kenyan runners will also be running in the oldest marathon in the world, the Boston Marathon, which is due to start later today in Boston, America.
