Injera on the verge of major accolade
27 March 2014, 12:39
Nairobi - Kenya Vice Captain Collins Injera is on the verge of becoming the third
highest all time try scorer on the HSBC Sevens World Series. Injera
heads into the Hong Kong Sevens on 178 tries, just one behind former South Africa stalwart Fabian Juries. Barring a major mishap, Injera will
very likely make his way into the top three during this weekend's action
in Hong Kong.
Injera debuted for Kenya at the 2006
Dubai Sevens, announcing himself on the world stage in the intervening
years. Among his major accolade with Kenya include claiming the 2008-09
series season's top try scorer's award after landing 42 times and
earning a player of the year nomination that year. He has also featured
at the 2009 and 2013 RWC Sevens World Cups, playing an integral part in
Kenya's semi final appearances on both occasions.
Should he keep playing for Kenya Sevens over the coming years, he is
surely in with a chance to inch closer and maybe even overhaul Ben
Gollings (220 tries) and Santiago Gomez Cora (230 tries). For the latest on national news, politics, sport, entertainment and more follow us on Twitter and like our Facebook page!
