Nairobi - Eunice Sum, Julius Yego, Caleb Ndiku and Grace Wanjiru all bagged gold medals on the final night of competition at the 19th Africa Senior Athletics Championships in Morocco on Thursday.
With Jarius Birech (men's 3,000m steeplechase), Hellen Obiri (women's 1,500m) and Joyce Chepkirui (women's 10,000m) picking up gold earlier in the week, the four athletes took Kenya's tally to seven.
Commonwealth Games champion Sum finished in a time of 1:59.45 to lead home a Kenya 1-2-3 in the women's 800m with Janeth Jepkosgei and Agatha Jeruto completing the podium.
Yego claimed glory in the men's javelin with a throw of 84.72m, Ndiku secured top spot in the men's 5,000m and 35-year-old veteran Wanjiru won the women's walk in 1:37.04 to secure her fourth AFrican title with compatriot Emily Ngii taking silver.
Kenya, though, didn't all have it their own way as two-time world champion Asbel Kiprop failed to pick up gold in the men's 1,500m with Djibouti’s Souleimaan Hassa claiming the glory.
Commonwealth Games winner Purity Kirui also had an evening to forget as she finished sixth in the women's 3,000m steeplechase, which was won by Ethiopian Hiwot Ayalew.
