Nairobi - Head coach, Paul Murunga, hailed his Youth Olympics team after it finished a credible fourth in the tournament in China.
The East African side lost 12-0 to Fiji in the bronze medal match played on Wednesday morning in Nanjing.
While the result was disappointing, Murunga, projected a bright future for the team.
“I am proud of the boys’ display. They held their own against better prepared opponents and this team has shown what Kenya is capable of and if this group of players is kept together, nurtured and exposed, they can definitely attain great heights,” he stated.
Kenya had earlier lost the semi-final to Argentina, the losing finalists, in a match that eventually ended 19-12.
The side had finished fourth in the round robin stages.
Meanwhile, France won the gold medal with a 45-22 win over Argentina.
The United States of America defeated Japan 29-12 to claim fifth place.
