23 February 2015, 16:20
The preparation for this year's First Lady's Half Marathon continues unabated with the race's start just 12 days away. This year's race rakes place outside Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi, on March 8 and both the women's and men's 21km races start at 7am.
The 2km 'Champions Race' then starts at 9am.
This year's event will also include wheelchair and tricycle races, which starts off proceedings at 6.30am.
Speaking to the press ahead of the event, Race Organiser Peter Gacheru of IMG Kenya believes everything is in order for a successful event.
"We have marked the route with AK and the Traffic Police, we have mapped out the first aid and water points and we planning an exciting Expo one week before the race," he said.
First Lady Margeret Kenyatta has moved her training to the high altitude Kaptagat region and according to her trainer Douglas Wakiihuri - the 1987 world marathon champion - she is approaching full fitness.
"Our training kicked off well after running the 15km today. The First Lady has clearly showed she is capable and fit for the race on March 8, 2015," Wakihuri said on Sunday.
