First Lady runs to raise funds for health sector

Nairobi - First Lady, Margaret Kenyatta, is set to participate in the 21km marathon road race aimed at raising funds for children living with HIV/Aids as well as address maternal health issues.
Scheduled for March 9, the marathon road race is being coordinated by Athletic Kenya (AK) in conjunction with Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) standards.
It will take place at Uhuru Gardens, the home of long distance competition.
The race is expected to attract international athletes.
In a statement, the First Lady is said to be ready to shine at the marathon for the worthy cause.
Traffic police assured the nation that there would be tight security to ensure peace and safety during the event.
Police representative for Nairobi Area, Senior Superintendent, Musyoki Mutungi, confirmed the presence of the law enforcement agency at the event.
He warned those that without valid accreditation would not be allowed to participate.
Winners of the event will pocket prizes in cash ranging from KES 200,000 for both men and women categories while runners-up will receive KES 100,000 with third placed walking away with KES 75,000.
