Nairobi - Giants Egypt have launched their quest for the Africa qualifiers for the World Men's Volleyball Championship without two key players, who failed to get release from the European clubs.
The team will be without setter Abdalla Mohamed and attacker Ahmed Salah who failed to be released from their Turkish clubs.
Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) said on Wednesday that Egypt still stands out as favorite to return to the World Championship, an event they have represented Africa over five times.
"The Pharaohs, who are six time African champions, arrived in Nairobi Monday ahead of the Africa qualifiers, which starts on Thursday to get enough acclimatization. However, they will be without two players Abdalla Mohamed and attacker Ahmed Salah," said Tarek al-Adwar, the CAVB Press Officer.
