Disappointment once again for Kenya sevens

07 February 2014, 11:12

Nairobi - The Kenya national sevens team once again failed to produce on another disaster day in the world sevens series in Wellington New Zealand.

Having done badly in the last leg in Las Vegas, Kenya were placed in tough pool featuring Samoa, Australia and Tonga in Wellington early Friday.

24-12 and 24-0 losses to Samoa and the Aussies ensured they would not qualify for the cup quarter-finals and despite a 40-7 walloping of a poor Tonga side, there will be more grumbles at the Kenya Rugby Union headquarters over the performance.

" It has been poor, we are sorry, captain Collins Injera said after the pool stages.

" We hoped to do better but we started very poorly and did not recover from the first loss where everything went wrong for us, he added.

Kenya will take part in the bowl semi-finals early Saturday.
