Nairobi - The Confederation of African Rugby (CAR) has rescheduled its Sevens tournament that was originally set to run concurrently with the Safaricom Sevens from Thursday.
Kenya Rugby Union Chairman, Mwangi Muthee, said CAR made the decision to spare the union from logistical challenges that would have arisen from hosting both the Safaricom Sevens and the CAR Sevens at the same time.
“CAR and the KRU are working towards hosting it at a later date, preferably in November," he added.
Last weekend, Mombasa played host to Driftwood, the third round of Safaricom Sevens while the fourth round of the series, the Top Fry Prinsloo Sevens will be held over in Niakuru on 30/31 August 2014.
Known officially as the Safaricom Sevens Series since the 2013 season through sponsorship from leading integrated communications provider Safaricom, the KRU National Sevens Series is an annual series of local rugby sevens’ tournaments run by the Kenya Rugby Union featuring local clubs sevens teams.
This year’s series will come to an end with the Safaricom Sevens in Nairobi on Friday.
