Big sponsorship for national basketball team

01 September 2014, 19:01

Nairobi - Africa’s Pay TV service Providers DSTV/SuperSport, coupled with Menengai Oil, has awarded the Kenya Basketball League with a 12-million shilling sponsorship deal.

The deal, which is the biggest in basketball in the country’s history, sparks the beginning of the development of the game in the country that has been mooted for some time.

MultiChoice Kenya Finance Manager, Janet Oyugi – speaking during the ceremony where the sponsorship was confirmed – reiterated the company’s commitment to investment in sport in the country.

“For the over 18 years that MultiChoice has been in this market, no other company has invested as much in the Kenyan pay television market than DStv. Through our channels such as SuperSport, we shall continue making extensive investments in the production of local sport,” she said.

MultiChoice will contribute eight million shillings, while Menengai Oil add another four million to the overall kitty.
