Ashioya lauds Treu arrival

19 November 2013, 16:58

Nairobi - Kenya national rugby seven a side player Sidney Ashioya is elated with Paul Treu's arrival as the side's coach.

South African Treu is the new coach, taking over from English coach Mike Friday and having won a number of IRB sevens series as well as the overall classification while with the Boks.

He will be expected to bring success to the Kenyan set-up and Ashioya is confident he will perform.

" He is a great coach and will do wonders for the country, he said.

" We have had two world class coaches in succesion and that makes the game in Kenya improve a whole lot. I am looking forward to meeting him and hopefully seeing him take us places, he added.

Ashioya also believes that the Kenyan team is ripe enough to win a sevens series leg this season.

" This could be our year. We have had some close misses but the confidence has increased in the side.

" It would not surprise me if we won a number of legs. I think we will do it.
