Amonde hoping for better

01 April 2015, 15:14

Nairobi - Kenya Sevens captain Andrew Amonde is hoping he and his charges can lift their performance at the upcoming Japan Sevens.

The Kenyan team disappointed in the weekends Dubai leg, only winning tow out of their six games.

"We made a lot of mistakes but we are ready for the challenge in Tokyo and aim to bounce back," said Amonde.

"Kenya looked lethargic and poor in defence and the momentum sustained from picking 18 points in Wellington and Las Vegas was lost. It's a reality check for the team as the World Series is very competitive and you can't afford to make mistakes.

"We made a lot of mistakes in the pool matches and paid the price. We know where we are in the standings and we must aim to amass as many points as possible to move up on the log."

Meanwhile, the team is awaiting news on scrum-half Michael Wanjala, who suffered soft tissue damage to his thigh in Dubai.
