Ambaka gives sevens team the thumbs up

10 June 2014, 16:20

Nairobi - Things may not have gone well for the Kenya Sevens team in recent months, but William Ambaka is confident they will bounce back and qualify for the Olympics.

The France-based Ambaka played a crucial role as the East African nation finished fourth at the Sevens Rugby World Cup in Moscow last year, but the team have struggled this year.

New coach Paul Treu is yet to get the team to gel, but former star player Ambaka is convinced it is only a matter of time before they turn things around.

"I think the new team management were first laying the foundation for the side and they will definitely improve in the upcoming season," he told The Star.

He added: "I guess there are lessons learnt season and the players are focused and ready to deliver for next season and that will translate to good results on the pitch."
