Nairobi - The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) confirmed that from now all players who
intend to play for the national side must sign a new performance-based

disagreement between the Union and players over the renewal of their
The senior players boycotted training over the weekend after the
Union cancelled their existing contracts without prior knowledge.

“The KRU reiterates that the Kenya Sevens management is ready to
accommodate all players deemed good enough to represent their country. A
decision has been taken that all contracts will be performance-based
rather than of full-time entitlement once someone has been selected for
the national team,” KRU Chairman Mwangi Muthee said.
“So long as one is ready to sign the contract, even the existing
senior players are welcome to push for a place in the Kenya Sevens team.
Clearly, with promise of young players exposed in the Safaricom Sevens,
Kenya can be able to build an indomitable team, going forward.”
