AK set to select runners for regional championships

03 April 2014, 10:38

Nairobi - The athletics federation is on Friday expected to select runners that will represent Kenya at the upcoming East and Central Championships.

The sides will be selected at the Nyayo Stadium where hordes of aspiring long distance athletes are scheduled to take part.

Athletics Kenya revealed that it would select the junior’s, men’s and women’s teams for track events such as 400m, 800m, 1500m and 3 000m.

AK officials said Friday's event would also enable the athletics mother body to choose athletes to compete in the steeplechase 5 000m.

The marathon races are set for Addis Ababa in Ethiopia between April 19 and 20.

Kenya, who have dominated the races alongside the hosts, are again expected to feature prominently in the podiums.
