Bensouda warns Ruto against skipping ICC trial

Nairobi - Judges at the International Criminal Court (ICC) may issue a warrant of arrest against Deputy President William Ruto if he decides to skip the proceedings of his trial at The Hague.
According to ICC Prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, Ruto should seek permission from the judges since he is an accused person at the ICC and has to be present at the court as his trial proceeds, The Standard reports.
The office of the prosecutor at the ICC had earlier suggested that Ruto delegates his duties to someone else, who will serve as the deputy president while he attends his ICC trial.
