iPhone users complain over iOS 7 update

19 September 2013, 15:09 Duncan Alfreds

Cape Town - As the latest version of Apple's iPhone operating system becomes available many users who upgraded their devices have taken to social media to complain that the update process did not perform as expected.

With the hype of the latest operating system, dubbed iOS 7, Apple said it was a departure from the previous versions that have all included skeuomorphic design.

But users who downloaded the update complained on the company's Facebook page that the download did not go according to plan.

"Just wanna say congrats for the worse update ever iOS 7 is truly terrible reckon my 6 year old girl could have designed a better looking layout!" wrote Chris Nottingham.

Wendy Goldstein Gelbart went further, describing the update as poor.

Mixed attitudes

"I now absolutely f-ing hate my IPhone. Will be checking into when I am eligible for a new one and Adios Apple. Why couldn't you leave well enough alone," she wrote.

On Twitter, though, user attitudes were mixed at the iOS 7 update.

"Can't decided wether I like iOS7 or not hmmmm. Going to take a while to get used to it!" wrote a user called zoeeeee (@zoesutherland_), indicating that it might a while before owners become accustomed to Apple's new flat design.

Yet other users felt that the update isn't much to celebrate.

"I've had iOS7 for 10 minutes and I'm already over it. Meh," wrote Hiker Anthony (@anthonyshock).

The Daily Mail in the UK reported that some who tried to update their devices received error messages on the update.

Apple has included a number of features in the iOS 7 update, including new multitasking functionality and notifications. There are also toggle switches for instant access to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and calculator control.

In SA, iPhone users have been invited to the iStore to upgrade their devices for free.

It is likely that the software won't update if there is not enough memory available on the device.
