14 October 2013, 14:07 Henry Ifeanyi

Lagos – United Arab Emirates-based satellite operator, YahSat, is running what officials say is an affordable internet promotion in several African countries.

The satellite broadband operator announced that it was offering free equipment, reduced installation and monthly subscription fees across countries in Africa.

In Nigeria, where YahClick works with service partners Coollink and Hyperia, the company said the special offer which will end in December, will result in a saving of up to N136,500 while in South Africa, the service users will save of up to R1 200.

In Kenya, where YahClick's service partner is SimbaNet, the deal means savings of up to $1 150.

The company said YahClick services has been received well in Kenya and it is now in a position to offer perks to help businesses thrive.

Edson Ndanguzi, YahClick Project Manager at Infinity, said affordable satellite broadband internet was the next step in bridging the digital divide.
YahClick is beamed through Yahsat's Y1B satellite, which delivers internet connectivity through Ka-band multi-spot beams, with reusable frequencies to maximise spectrum efficiency.

Ndanguzi said YahClick will soon be fully operational across 28 countries throughout the Middle East, Africa, Central and South West Asia, in partnership with more than 30 service partners.
