Los Angeles - IBM and Twitter will work together to integrate Twitter's data into IBM's analytics services for businesses, both companies said Wednesday.
Twitter data will be part of IBM's cloud-based Watson Analytics application, which brings big data analysis to business users.
The supercomputer will be able to comb through a data stream of about 500 million tweets daily to find trends.
"Twitter provides a powerful new lens through which to look at the world - as both a platform for hundreds of millions of consumers and business professionals, and as a synthesizer of trends," said IBM chief executive Ginni Rometty in a statement.
Both companies will collaborate to develop solutions for specific industries such as banking, consumer products, retail, and travel and transportation, the statement said.
The new partnership will make it easier for business clients to analyze Twitter data to find out what customers like about certain products, Twitter said in a statement. For the latest on national news, politics, sport, entertainment and more follow us on Twitter and like our Facebook page!
