Waititu arrested for bribing voters in Malindi

Malindi - Kabete MP, Ferdinand Waititu was arrested at a polling station in Malindi where he was allegedly bribing voters.
Waititu, had earlier been spotted at the Central Primary School polling station in Malindi Town where he was claiming to be an agent for the Jubilee candidate, Philip Charo but was thrown out by the IEBC Presiding officer.
After leaving the agents’ bench, Daily Nation reports that Waititu went to the voters’ queue where he started gathering voters in small groups, raising suspicion that he was trying to bribe voters.

He was later arrested by police who escorted him to the Malindi police station where he was interrogated before recording a statement.
According to The Star, he denied the bribery allegations and was released on a free bond.
His Mwea counterpart, Peter Gitau was also arrested at Kakiyuni polling station after being caught with KES 32,000 which was allegedly aimed at bribing voters.
He was also escorted to Malindi police station where he recorded a statement.
Charo is running against six other candidates, with ODM’s Willy Mtengo being his main challenger.
