Nairobi - Opposition leader Raila Odinga was caught up in heavy teargas fired by police during protests against the electoral body, IEBC.
Raila was in the company of other opposition leaders, including Kalonzo Munsyoka and Moses Wetang’ula who are both co-principals of the opposition coalition CORD.
According to reports, one teargas canister landed on Raila’s feet, forcing him to flee.
Thousands of CORD supporters who had gathered outside IEBC offices in Nairobi town also ran for their safety.
They were trying to break the gate of the building that hosts IEBC secretariat when police fired teargas at them.
They were demanding the ouster of IEBC commissioners over alleged malpractices in the last general election in the protests that went haywire.
The electoral body has however issued an apology to CORD over the teargas incident, but urged them to avoid unorthodox approaches.
