01 August 2016, 11:07
Nairobi - Auditor General, Edward Ouko has revealed that the government has been paying retirement benefits to dead pensioners.
This was occasioned by technology gaps in the Pension Management Information System (PMIS), Daily Nation reports.
According to the Auditor General, the system has processing payments with incomplete data.

In 2015 for instance, 601 pension files were processed without pensioner’s names, 6890 without identification numbers and 6896 without personal numbers.
Previous reports had established that the country was losing over $1 million to ghost workers monthly, which led to the introduction of the biometric registration of workers in order to remove their names from the public payroll.
